PLANNING KILLEEN GATE CENTRE

SUMMARY

Killeen Engineering opened a show room in Enfield, Co. Meath. The original building had been a pharmacy (and later an office) and needed a full fit out. I designed and created all the visuals throughout.

The Killeen Gate Centre needed its own branding. It needed to be reminiscent of the Killeen Engineering brand, but had more of a minimalist feel to it.

PROBLEM

The office had been divided into several smaller rooms. Conceptualising how to best lay out the new show room was difficult as a result. Gates are large and the showroom, even when opened up, is small. The question became; ‘How do I fit four offices, a reception space, two bathrooms and a showroom into the space available?’

LOGO

I went through several versions of the logo for the Gate Center. I needed the design to be a sibling of the original Killeen Engineering logo, but to still very much be its own thing. Finally we landed on a simple typographic logo. I wanted to make bold and striking moments through the branding. This would compliment the simplicity of the logo.

IDENTITY MOCKUPS

With a logo agreed on, I next began to work on rough mockups for the interior and exterior. We needed to be cost effective with the design approach. And as such I tried to use as much of the previous style that was already there. We also created a 3D version of the interior to play around with the layout. Gates and add ons would take up most of the space available.

Knowing this, I continued with the mantra of ‘big, bright and bold’ for planned pops of colour and design.

EXTERIOR

The above three images show the before, mockup and end result of the exterior re-design. Killeen Gate Center operates on the ground floor of this office block. Their sister company, SenSys Technology Group occupies the first floor. This gave me room to play with the design. I worked with Impact Signs to create this ambitious, design.

BRANDING

With a logo and sense of style in place, I also created designs for apparel and literature. As mentioned above; this helped with the customer experience. It also ties together a cohesive identity.

IMPLEMENTATION

One of the first steps of stage 2 of the Gate Centre’s creation is to start heading to conventions and events. Before 2021 Killeen Engineering would have dealt with both commercial and residential gates. Yet, the company has split. Killeen Engineering covers commercial gates and the new KGC prioritises residential gates. I needed to update the stands and imagery used at these events to match with the KGC. This was debuted at Bloom 2022
